Show Notes:

  • Mitchell’s number one habit is not doing things he hates.
    • What do I want? It’s easier for him to define the things he doesn’t want and avoiding those first.
  • What makes you come alive?
  • First, take a deep breath and chill out a little.
    • There is an immense pressure to have it all figured out, but most of us don’t have it figured out.
    • We’re still learning and trying new things.
  • What’s the highest, most valuable use of your next 12 months?
  • Most career advice sucks.
    • The idea of a linear career path is bogus.
      • People don’t work for a company for 40 years and then retire.
  • It’s not “how can I go secure employment for the rest of my life.”
    • It’s about transforming my interests into income streams.
  • Follow your interests and build resources around them first.
  • College is not the only successful path forward for young people.
  • Praxis is a 6-month boot camp that helps people find out what they can do that they love.
    • It’s about the mindset “Why not me? Why can’t I fix things?”
    • It reframes career as a series of opportunities to deliver value to others.
  • You’ve got to take charge of your own learning.
  • You have to take personal agency over your life.
  • I alone am responsible.
  • You have to put in the work.
  • You only get out what you put in.
