Are you tired of hearing about the Great Resignation yet?

In a recent Kiplinger Letter, they talk about how we won’t get back to normal economically in 2022. The Labor market is and will stay extremely tight, making your life hard as an employer to find new employees.  There are only 65 unemployed workers for every 100 jobs employers are trying to fill.

So what do you do?  This article will share strategies on using and getting you up to speed on the latest social media and referral best-recruiting practices?

Over 84 percent of organizations are recruiting via social media and 70% of managers said this is a successful method for their companies.  Let me share with you how to successfully recruit top talent online and how to hire up to 50% faster with a proven referral system.

First, let’s look at recruiting online

When attracting new talent, try to think like them. You need to be open to new ways of recruiting. We have added a downloadable pdf that will show you 27 of the best free job posting sites for 2021. Feel free to check those out here:

Let’s look at on-line job sites:

From research, you will find which on-line postings will work best within your market. Each business will be different depending on the type of person you are recruiting. Here are the top sites for job listings:

  • Indeed is the most popular job posting site with over 180 million unique visitors each month. It offers free, paid, pay-per-job, and pay-per-click postings. It works with all industries and job types.
  • Monster has a lot of web traffic and offers paid and pay-per-job posts. It provides a great resume database.
  • CareerBuilder is one of the most trafficked job sites in the United states. It allows for paid and pay-per-job.

Social media is also a great way to recruit talent.
You can use your LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other sites to post the opening of the position you have available. If you have company pages, post on these also. Ask your team members to share the job opening posts. This will expand your network to include your team’s network, and you will be reaching a larger potential candidate pool.

If you would like step-by-step instructions for posting on Facebook, Indeed, and LinkedIn, please click on this link to get the downloadable pdf: At the bottom of page 3, it will walk you through those steps for each platform. One key reminder: if you create a video for your openings you will get even better results.

Lastly, let’s look at how employee referrals will increase your profit.

New hires sourced via referral programs produce 25% more profit for their companies than new hires sourced via other means.

Do you have a referral system in place? If not, you should implement one today. 45% of employees sourced from employee referrals stay for longer than 4 years.

With all of these benefits of an employee referral system, why is it that only 7% of all applications an organization will receive are from employee referrals? Well, most small businesses do not have an HR department to implement these types of programs. That’s why I’ve made it easy for you.  I have supplied you with word templates that you can choose from and easily add your logo and make them yours so you can start implementing your system today.

Creating an employee referral program is easy. Determine what the incentive(s) will be and if you will offer various awards for filling different roles. Keep in mind that it may give the impression that different positions in your organization are more “valuable” than others.

Next, figure out how long after the person referred is hired before you’ll give the employee their incentive. You can give the total amount all at once or portions at different dates.

The final step is to create an official employee referral program policy you can share with your staff and include it in your employee handbook.

We have provided a word document download that has 3 types of systems to choose from, editable email templates, and referral forms that you can make your own by editing and adding your logo.

All you have to do is:

  1. Download our referral system word templates here:
  2. Pick 1 of the 3 systems that best fits your business
  3. Edit the documents with your company’s information

It’s that easy.  We have supplied you with three different referral systems, two different types of referral forms, and three inter-office emails that can be sent or used as memos.

If you haven’t already opted-in to receive the full Success in Hiring video series and downloads, you can go to the above link or at Our Success in Hiring System will cover the complete hiring process: Recruiting, Interviewing, Hiring, Onboarding and Coaching.  My purpose is to help business owners succeed in business and life.  If you find value in this article please share it with your business associates because I am tired of hearing about the Great Resignation.  It is time we do something about it.
