They Get To Know their Employees

Make a genuine effort to get to know your staff members. To be an excellent manager, you must truly understand your team. Learn about each person’s strengths and shortcomings, as well as what motivates them and what discourages them.

They Set Clear Goals

Without a strategic plan, it’s nearly impossible to know what you want and where you’re heading. Start with big-picture thinking and have team members debate and generate ideas to meet your long-term objectives. 

They are Transparent

It’s critical to be open and honest with your workers since it allows them to trust you, form relationships, and ensure everyone is on the same page. You may begin by being transparent at the top to create a company culture of openness.

They Build Trust

All good coaching relationships begin with a foundation of equitable trust. Openness can help to build this trust. You may also want to have an open-door policy. Be clear, friendly, and non-judgmental in each coaching session, and try to demonstrate to your employees that you care about them and see them as essential members of the team.

You can’t expect your team members to do anything you wouldn’t do, as is the case with most things in a leadership position.

They Resolve Conflict

It’s up to you to watch for interpersonal tension within your team. Try to fully comprehend these issues before they arise and then devise a method for addressing and avoiding them. Humans are competitive by nature. As a result, competing is often natural. However, you may encourage healthy competition and promote collaboration and recognition of group accomplishments rather than individual success by eliminating unhealthy rivalry and encouraging cooperation and recognition of group achievements over personal success.

They Offer Constructive Feedback

Feedback, as one of the most critical components of employee development, can make the team successful. Let your employees know what needs improvement but craft your message to be positive. 

They Celebrate Wins

Celebrating the small milestones is what encourages movement towards the big ones. Try to acknowledge both your employee’s achievements as well as the group’s. Recognize individual milestones such as work anniversaries and personal triumphs, and the team and company successes.

They Hold Themselves and others Accountable

Teamwork requires accountability. Some teams avoid it for fear of being exposed. However, once responsibility is acknowledged, formalized, and spread far and wide, your team’s performance will improve. Tasks should be assigned to individuals because no one is accountable if everyone is held responsible.

The challenge now is to assist managers to be better leaders in applying and putting into place sound coaching skills.  This will help to develop a team of devoted, competent, and motivated employees. A leader can only achieve excellence through relationships with others, so it’s time to share their vision with employees and seek their support.
